High School Challenge 2008

Are your students up for it!?

________________________________________________________

Last year, $19,000 was raised in the battle against blood cancer. If your students are up for the Challenge, join in for 2008! Win a party package for your school event!

The Annual Pennies High School Challenge will run February 4-25, 2008 in Montgomery County Public High Schools. The Pennies High School Challenge must be coordinated by a student club/ organization with at least 20 members. The Society provides all of the materials (except for collection bins) and holds planning sessions with your student group.

The top fundraising school that rises to The Challenge will win

...........a party package!

Use it for your Post Prom Party or end of the year event! Package includes: Domino's Pizza, $350 in Best Buy door prizes, and a DJ to help celebrate your sweet success!

If you are interested in the Pennies High School Challenge but are not a Montgomery County Public High School, please contact Erin Walker (erin.walker@lls.org) and let us know that you would like us to extend the program to your area. You can also register for the Pennies for Patients program to start helping local blood cancer patients and getting your students acclimated to this community fundraiser.

Program Overview:

  • Program held February 4-25, 2008
  • Student organizations are asked to meet three challenges -
    • Document how your school raised awareness for blood cancer patients and the progress to find a cure
    • Coordinate 3 fundraisers (select from a Society provided list of programs or design your own!)
    • Involve the community -show us how you got the word out to your community (newspaper, email, announcement at sports games, etc.)
  • Planning takes preparation! You asked for more time! Set up your Fall Planning meeting and January Kick-off meeting to help get a jumpstart.
  • Host an All You Can Eat Pizza Kick-off Party provided by Domino's - $5 tickets ($2.50 goes directly back to your schools grand total!)
  • Program materials, videos, and education tools provided to help enhance your organizations experience
  • Every student group running the program receives a pizza party as a thank you from the Society.

Why Challenge your students? They have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of local patients and the future of fighting blood cancers! Students can flex their creativity, build leadership skills, learn about working with non-profits, and gain insight into their own amazing talents.
