Pennies for Patients 2009 - One Little Penny, One Big Difference
During the 2008-2009 school year, more than 12 million students from 25,000 schools nationwide worked together to bring hope to lives touched by blood cancer by participating in Pennies for Patients. And what a difference they madestudents raised $20 million to help fund lifesaving cancer research! Since its inception, School & Youth Programs have raised more than $140 million dollars nationally for research and patient services. Locally, we celebrated our 18th year of Pennies for Patients with $5.2 million raised for local research and patients services. This community service project has also helped thousands of students experience the power of the penny--the feeling that comes from working together to improve the lives of others.
In 2009, our we partnerd with almost 800 schools in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota and raise $702,000!
