November 2003
Members of the U.S. National Soccer Team Players Association, whose official national charity is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, recently conducted a Soccer Kicks for Cancer event in Washington, DC. Participants included (left to right) Tab Ramos, Midfielder for the New York/New Jersey Metrostars; Todd Smith, former GM of the New England Revolution; John Murphy, Assistant Coach of the Revolution; Mike Noonan, Head Soccer Coach of Brown University; Dave Kasper, Technical Director of the DC United; and John Harkes, Midfielder for the Columbus Crew and former Captain of the U.S. National Soccer Team. Ramos and Harkes served as hosts of Soccer Kicks for Cancer. June 2003 The 2003 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) champion Baltimore Blast are a proud sponsor of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Maryland Chapter School & YouthSM Programs. Players make appearances at participating schools and tell students about the value of being a part of a team and helping out in the community.
The top six fundraising schools will receive a visit from the team, where players will take on faculty in a "soccer-volleyball" match. May 2003 The Columbus Crew invited the top fundraising classes from 35 schools participating in the Central Ohio Chapter's Pennies for Patients® campaign to be guests at a game. Crew members Brian Maisonneuve (below, right, with Honored Patient Adam Kindell), Jon Busch, Mike Clark and Duncan Oughton visited the area's top fundraising schools.
December 2002 U.S. National Team players Jeff Agoos and Josh Wolff recently appeared on the KISS-FM morning show in Las Vegas, NV to promote the partnership between the U.S. National Soccer Team Players Association (USNSTPA) and the Society. The Society is the Official National Charity of the USNSTPA, which is helping promote School & Youth.

After their on-air appearance, Agoos and Wolff taped public service announcements to promote Pennies for Patients. The announcements will be played over public address systems in schools throughout the country to encourage students to contribute spare change to help advance the Society's mission.
