Top Ten Tips for Classroom Success

  1. Take Inventory! Complete the materials checklist to ensure you have everything your class needs.
  2. Dress your classroom for success! Set up your collection container and hang your thermometer chart.
  3. Involve parents. Distribute the Dear Parent letter and individual collection boxes to each student (K-8).
  4. Set a classroom goal. Work towards a bronze, silver or gold pennant!
  5. Focus on the mission. Let your students know that their efforts will help people with blood cancer. LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
  6. Share Your Honored Hero's story. Help your students connect to the mission by learning about their Honored Hero. Have your students write letters or draw pictures to send to their Honored Hero.
  7. Track classroom totals. Track your classroom totals by counting daily, and keeping a running total. Mark your progress on the thermometer chart.
  8. Teach empathy and compassion. Remind students that it's better to give than to receive. They can help others by giving back something little - their spare change.
  9. Create excitement! Use a creative campaign idea in your classroom and remind students of goals and incentives.
  10. Have fun!
