Matching Gifts Many companies will match a donation made to a nonprofit organization. Encourage parents to have their company match their donation to LLS. Paper Pennies Use the paper penny pads to create a penny wall at your school. Sell the icons for $1 or $5. The contributor gets to write his/her name on the "penny" and post it on the wall. Lyrical Lunch Students contribute $5 to listen to their ipod or MP3 player during lunch for a day. Decorate your Classroom Door or Canister Have each classroom decorate their door or canister for Pennies for Patients. Ask a local business to judge the competition and donate prizes to the winners. Classroom Competition Foster competition between classrooms. Monitor daily totals and make announcements so everyone knows how everyone else is doing. Coin Days Designate certain days during the week to a specific coin. For example: Monday is Penny Day, Tuesday is Nickel Day, Wednesday is Dime Day, Thursday is Quarter Day and Friday is Dollar Day. Try a New Hair Style Motivate your students by offering to shave your head or dye your hair green or pink if your school reaches its goal. Team Up Against Leukemia Designate a "jersey day" where students wear their favorite team jersey to school. Pennies Boiling Point Set a fundraising goal (your school's "boiling point") and hang your thermometer chart in a prominent place. Community Donations Promote the program in your community. Send a press release to local media to get coverage of special events. Encourage local businesses to match classroom or weekly totals or just send a donation. Rock for a Cause Host a rock concert, talent contest or variety show at your middle or high school and charge a donation for admission. Bake Sale Hold a bake sale during your school's lunch hour. Principal Prize Make your school principal the prize! Have him/her kiss a pig, get dunked, and dress up like a clown if your school reaches its goal. Be creative! Online Fundraising Promote your school's donation Web site through the school newsletter, website and emails. On the Web site, parents/staff can donate to the campaign with a credit card and are immediately emailed a tax-deductible receipt for their donation. Spread the Love In honor of Valentine's Day, sell "candy for a cure" for $1, give out heart stickers to students who contribute or make Valentines for the Honored Heroes. Dollar Days Designate Fridays as Dollar Days. Students can pay $1 to wear a hat, eat lunch with their teacher, wear pajamas or school colors.
